2000 Mercedes-Benz Vito CDI 9-Passenger Van

I've been too busy this week to work much on the blog, but I was driving the other day near my parents' house and I saw an old silver Mercedes van that surprised me. I checked out eBay and there happens to be a 2000 Vito CDI on there now in New York State (along with a bunch of rebadged Dodge Sprinters).

The ad explicitly states "This vehicle was legally improted from Europe. All the proper paperwork was filed and we do have a New York title which is included in the pictures." I'd want to learn about the specific route this car took here, including the name and contact info of the Registered Importer and a copy of the EPA and DOT compliance documents (get all the information you'd have if you brought the car over yourself). I've dealt with other sellers in the past in New York State who have greys with NY titles, but they were unwilling to provide that information. Keep this in mind: Just because a car has a title NOW doesn't mean that you'll be able to get a new one! Especially in a different state.

The car in the ad is pretty cool, it has a ton of interior volume (seats 9 plus a trunk!) and it's a stick shift diesel. It's a unique but still utilitarian look I think. It's very purposeful and resulute, secure in it's minivan-ness unlike the "crossovers" that are all the rage now. My only problem is with the price, but it's hard to say how the seller came to that figure. Maybe it's worth it, I don't know, but he asks not to be sent any lower offers.
