1997 Acura 1.6EL (Canadian Civic)

Now that last week is over, I have time to swim around the internet looking for imported/importable cars again. Found a bunch of great stuff that I'm going to try and write about this week, but I'm writing today about a rather unassuming cheapo import that'll cause just a few double-takes.

This is a Canadian Acura 1.6EL that you probably recognize as a Honda Civic. I saw one of these in a parking lot about 6 months ago with Canada tags, and I wasn't sure what to make of it. This seller clarifies that the 1.6EL has the same or similar VTEC engine as the Civic EX, but different headlights, tail lights, and dash gauges. They also state that the car has an Acura suspension, stereo, and wheels.

Probably an easy import to the US since it's probably built to the same specs as US cars, but it's worth checking for stickers on the car to be sure you don't get held up in customs. I'd say this car is really only worth looking at if you are in the Chicago area and are looking at 170k mile 1997 Civics already - easy way to be a little different without a body kit, superbright headlights, and a coffee can exhaust! Of course if you're into that kind of thing, this would be a car that would stand out from the rest of that crowd, too, and takes most any Honda Civic/D16 parts.

Find the ad here on eBay. The car is located in Chicago, IL and titled in Wisconsin. Bids are around $1000 with 2 days left, reserve not met.
