From Bring a Trailer - 1971 Citroen GS

This car was featured on Bring a Trailer today, and it's such a good deal I have to write a quick post about it. The seller is a mechanic who imported the car from Holland and sorted most of the mechanicals and cosmetics, including rebuilding the upgraded 1220cc engine and redoing the interior.

This car is so wacky, it could only be French. I'd love to have a car like this, it would be so much fun every time you had to go somewhere. It's like a big toy. The car is in pretty darn good shape for the money. The seller documented the restoration work he did, going as far back as when the car lived in Rotterdam. The only faults he lists are the less-than-perfect body and a few creaks in the suspension on startup. Some of the lines from the ad that make me want the car are: "If you think of it as the streamlined 2cv upgrade that George Jetson would drive you'll be impressed" and "Kinda scruffy but loveable."

The seller says it cost him $4250 to get it from Rotterdam to Berkeley, and that's what he wants for the car. I think it's totally worth it, even if you have to add $1500 to get it across the country.

Find the car described here on Bring a Trailer, for sale here on eBay, and described further on the seller's website.
